Royal Far West’s Community Recovery Services team visit Two Mile State School in Gympie, QLD

Three members of Royal Far West’s Community Recovery Services team visited Two Mile State School in Gympie, QLD, May 27 -31, delivering a range of supports for students, staff and parents:

  • A children’s group program, ‘Stormbirds’, supporting Year 2 students impacted by the 2022 floods, increasing their knowledge and understanding of strategies to cope with grief, change and loss.
  • In-class support for Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 classes, with our Occupational Therapist observing a lesson and working with the classroom teachers to explore strategies to support students’ regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Individual screeners for Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students with our Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist.
  • A parent drop-in session with our clinicians, including discussion about supporting big emotions at home.
