Three members of Royal Far West’s Community Recovery Services team visited Two Mile State School in Gympie, QLD, May 27 -31, delivering a range of supports for students, staff and parents:
- A children’s group program, ‘Stormbirds’, supporting Year 2 students impacted by the 2022 floods, increasing their knowledge and understanding of strategies to cope with grief, change and loss.
- In-class support for Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 classes, with our Occupational Therapist observing a lesson and working with the classroom teachers to explore strategies to support students’ regulation and engagement in learning.
- Individual screeners for Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students with our Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist.
- A parent drop-in session with our clinicians, including discussion about supporting big emotions at home.
