Volunteering
Interested in Volunteering? We’d love to hear from you!
Volunteers are an essential part of the Royal Far West team, giving their time and skills to help us support country children Australia-wide.
How it works
Our amazing volunteers include long-term regulars who support our staff in various departments and others who help at specific events and with one-off projects.
After you’ve expressed interest in volunteering with us, we’ll contact you discuss what you’d like to do, what your skills are, our existing roles and availability and then we’ll be able to welcome you as a valued Royal Far West volunteer.
Mandatory requirements
- Be 18+ years old
- Undergo a Working with Children Check (free for volunteers)
- Complete some mandatory online training programs
- If you’re working with our children and families we require you to be vaccinated (information provided when you register)
Let’s get started
Types of Roles
Firstly, volunteer roles working directly with our children are limited. Our kids are very busy during their stay at RFW attending their many appointments, school and the recreation program. The majority of our volunteer roles involve supporting our staff in an administrative capacity, assisting with projects or helping at events.
CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING
We love hosting corporate groups for their team building days. Previous groups have assisted us with professional strategic support, cooking dinner for our families and running events. Preference is given to existing partners of Royal Far West but we also welcome other groups.
Please email us at corporatepartnerships@royalfarwest.org.au for all corporate volunteering enquiries.
ARCHIVING VOLUNTEERING
Become a volunteer to help us preserve our collection and help us tell the rich stories of Royal Far West in the lead up to our Centenary.
I retired at 69 in 2013, and after one month of retirement I started volunteering here, and have been coming here one day each week ever since! I love volunteering here because they support and give hope to many families. I am contributing to a cause I care about from a personal connection, and I enjoy the company and the friendships I have made here.”
