Royal Far West’s Multidisciplinary team recently travelled to Gunnedah to work alongside students, families and educators at Gunnedah Public School and Ooranga Family Mobile Resource Unit. The week-long visit focused on building resilience, supporting wellbeing and providing practical strategies to help children succeed at home and school. 

Parents participated in a workshop exploring ways to support children’s emotions, behaviours and anxiety, providing practical tools that can be used in everyday situations. Students also benefited from targeted classroom activities, with the school identifying the need to support Year 6 students in their transition to high school.

The visit included a range of professional learning opportunities for educators. Workshops covered sensory supports, neurodiversity, fine and gross motor development, and strategies for supporting behaviour, regulation and attention in the classroom. These sessions aimed to equip teachers with practical approaches that can be implemented immediately to support student success. 

Through collaborative partnerships with school communities, Royal Far West continues to strengthen resilience, foster connection and promote recovery across disaster-impacted regions of NSW.
