Occupational Therapy
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapists (also known as OTs) help children to perform the activities that they need and want to do each day that bring meaning to their life.
How do I know if my child should have Occupational Therapy?
You may notice that your child is having difficulty:
- Coming up with their own ideas in play and imaginative play with toys.
- Being able to do the everyday activities in our daily routines. This includes brushing our teeth, getting dressed and using cutlery.
- Using the hand and fingers to stay in the lines and use scissors.
- Using the larger muscles of the body to catch a ball, jump and hop with control and use playground equipment.
- Differences in responses to sensations. This includes wearing clothes with different textures and dislike of loud noises.
- Understanding and managing big emotions and feelings.
Our Occupational Therapists can help children by looking at the building blocks of development so they can be more independent and engage in the meaningful activities in their world.
