Psychology

What is Psychology?

Psychologists can help children with social-emotional difficulties.

The big emotions that children experience as they navigate life can hugely impact their behaviour, and their ability to interact with other people, and the environment around them. Detecting and addressing concerns early can prevent these difficulties from escalating into more serious problems later in life.

How might psychology help?
You may be concerned about your child’s social-emotional wellbeing – this may be anxiety, low self-esteem, low mood, anger, grief and loss, seeking isolation, intense behaviour, attention and learning difficulties or difficulties making friends.

Psychologists can support children to understand and manage feelings, to help build emotional stability, confidence and resilience.

Our team provides a range of therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. They also work in a family-centred way, meaning they consider the unique needs of your family when working when working with your child.

It can help support:

  1. Self-esteem: psychology can help your child feel confident, capable and valued by fostering a positive sense of self-worth and resilience in the face of challenges.
  2. Emotion regulation: psychology can help your child to understand and manage intense emotions.
