Hi. My name is Tara and I’m the Human Resources Coordinator at Royal Far West.
What I do
I help to look after the’ big people’ (employees), so they can look after the little people (the kids), including paid and unpaid support staff. A big focus of my role is our Volunteer Program. Our amazing volunteers provide support in all areas of the business, from admin support within our corporate team, to making up interactive packs for our Occupational Therapists to use with children and families, to supporting our recreation team with activities for the kids. I’m also involved in recruitment, our employee system support and responding to general HR questions.
On 5 December we all celebrated International Volunteer Day 2019 . The skills, experience, enthusiasm, and spirit of altruism of our volunteers are a very valuable asset for Royal Far West – we really would struggle without their help – and it’s a pleasure to liaise with our wonderful team of volunteers.
My time here
I haven’t been here for long, but I’ve absolutely loved every day so far! A big favourite is seeing the amazing support and creativity that our clinicians provide to the kids who come to Manly and the kids who receive support through our Telecare programs. While I don’t work directly with the families, I enjoy saying hello to the families who are visiting us at Manly, and I love asking them at the end of the week how their time was and seeing the wide smiles on the ‘little people’ and their parents and carers.
Why I work here
I have always wanted to work for a company that gives back to the community. The great culture that we have here as well as the incredible view of Manly Beach are wonderful bonuses! The people are also great. We are lucky to have such an incredibly bright and motivated team.
