Celebrating Dedication: Branch Conference Highlights

All the news and highlights from the 2023 Branch Conference

The annual Royal Far West (RFW) Branch Conference is a highlight for staff and branch members. This is our opportunity to thank an incredible group of volunteers for their unwavering support and celebrate their outstanding fundraising efforts on behalf of country kids. This year we were delighted to welcome representatives from Dubbo, Grenfell, Orange, Port Macquarie, Trundle, and West Wyalong.

Each Branch President presented a report, culminating in an impressive contribution of $61,500 to RFW. This generosity showcases the extraordinary dedication and impact RFW Branches have in creating a brighter future for country kids.

The all-staff morning tea at the Centre for Country Kids is always an eagerly anticipated event enabling Branch Members to connect with the team and learn more about the vital work being done behind the scenes. This time is so special, hearing some of the family connections to RFW that span the decades is truly inspiring. Never ones to miss out on a potential fundraising opportunity, these experienced community fundraisers set up a trading table at the morning tea packed out with various knitted and sewn goods like soft and pretty coat hangers, beanies, tea towels and teddy bears expertly crafted by Branch Members back at home – adding a charming dimension to the event but also raised an impressive total of $522.

During the conference, special awards were presented for exceptional commitment and service:

  • Dubbo Wagon Wheel Branch received recognition for an incredible 85 years of service.
  • Gwen Downey from West Wyalong Branch was honoured for her 50 years of dedicated service.
  • Margaret Cuddihy from Grenfell Branch was celebrated for her 30 years of service.
  • Marie Cotter from Grenfell Branch was recognised for her 20 years of service.
  • Dianne Opprecht from Dubbo Branch was recognised for her 20 years of service.

Thank you to each member of the RFW Branches – your contribution year in year out, helps us in our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of country children.
