Meet the team: Amy

Hi, I’m Amy, the Fundraising Campaign & Database Coordinator within the Fundraising team at Royal Far West.

My role involves facilitating Individual Giving campaigns as well as maintaining the fundraising database, areas which are dependent upon our generous donors. Working as part of the Fundraising team has allowed me insight into the hardships faced by some families in rural and remote communities, as well as the importance of Royal Far West in closing the gap for such families.

How long have you been here?

Having only started at RFW in October, I’m still a newbie and learning all the ropes, however, I am excited for when the children we support return to the Centre for Country Kids soon and I can see some tangible evidence of the great work we do.

What led you to work at RFW?

Having interned and worked in fundraising roles at various organisations, I have always had a passion to pursue a rewarding career in the not-for-profit sector.

With both my sisters involved in medical careers, when I saw the role available at RFW I resonated with the organisation’s cause in supporting country kids to gain the access to the healthcare they deserve to thrive.

Describe your typical day

Typically, I am supplying reports for our external agencies who promote face-to-face fundraising, preparing data files, working on donor retention strategies with relation to our ever-growing Regular Giving program to ensure we adequately thank our generous donors, as well as performing ad-hoc database tasks/reporting.

What’s the best thing about working with families from rural and remote Australia?

I think it would have to be recognising these families’ resilience. 2020 has been a markedly tough year for everyone, but some families in rural and remote communities have been devastated by droughts, fires and COVID-19. Knowing that the work we do can help alleviate struggles for families is very rewarding.

What do you think makes RFW unique?

RFW is unique in the healthcare, developmental and educational services provided to country kids. It has been amazing to learn of the multifaceted and holistic care we provide to kids who may not be afforded this opportunity otherwise.

In addition, it’s been great to be part of such a positive and welcoming team who make the work even more enjoyable.
