Celebrating our partnership with Rainbow P-12 College

Honoured as a finalist at the Victorian Early Years Awards for outstanding support of early childhood development in regional Victoria

Royal Far West is thrilled to announce that our partnership with Rainbow P-12 College has been recognised as a finalist at the 2024 Victorian Early Years Awards (VEYA). This achievement highlights our shared commitment to ensuring children in Rainbow, located in the Wimmera region, can access the vital supports they need to thrive.

This collaboration began in 2023, funded under the Emerging Priorities Pilot, and Rainbow P-12 College elected to continue working with us in 2024, funding the program independently. Together, we’re delivering critical services like allied health and early childhood interventions that pave the way for success in school and beyond.

We provide occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychology services to Rainbow students via virtual care and through two week-long in-community visits each year. Virtual care services include assessments, individual therapy and occupational therapy groups, while in-community visits encompass a broad range of activities, including observations, assessments, individual and group therapy sessions, whole-class activities, educator consultations, workshops and parent consultations.

Reflecting on this recognition, Kim Casburn, General Manager Schools and Community at Royal Far West, shared:

“Collaborating with passionate educators like Rainbow College Principal Colleen and her dedicated team, alongside committed partners like Jo from Wimmera By 5, to enhance access to allied health services has been incredibly rewarding. The exceptional quality and enthusiasm of the work showcased on the night, representing efforts from across the state, was nothing short of inspiring.”

The Victorian Early Years Awards celebrate excellence in early childhood development across the state. Now in their 19th year, the awards honour organisations and individuals dedicated to improving the learning, health and wellbeing of children from birth to eight years old.

We are grateful for this recognition and remain committed to supporting children’s development in country communities. Together, we’re making a difference in creating brighter futures for children in Rainbow and beyond.
