Ten Years of Walking Together: The Marurra‑U Partnership

December 2025 marked a decade of the Marurra-U Partnership – a powerful collaboration between Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre in Fitzroy Crossing, WA, and Royal Far West.

The name Marurra U is a Bunuba word meaning “to embrace with love and care,” perfectly capturing the spirit of our joint work.

Our shared vision is a future where children and families in the Fitzroy Valley have access to a connected system of supports that help them thrive and this decade of partnership reflects a deep commitment to cultural respect, community leadership, and wraparound healing. Families in the Fitzroy Valley continue to grow in confidence and connection, and children experience improved
access to care, even across great distances.

When Marninwarntikura’s CEO, Emily Carter, first visited Royal Far West ten years ago, she said:

“We need to show people what good looks like, and our families deserve these supports in the Kimberley.”

Thank you to Marninwarntikura leadership for inviting us into their community and leading this journey alongside us.
