Our ‘My Life Story’ Program is back and bigger than ever!
When children practise “old fashioned” skills like writing stories, drawing pictures, and developing empathy for others, their fine motor skills, communication ability, social intelligence, general knowledge, and self-esteem are all enhanced. Recognising this, in 2018-19 we piloted a program called My Life Story, connecting country kids from Bourke, Walgett and Brewarrina with students at Manly Village Public School. And this year, it is back bigger and better than ever.
The cross-curricular program is run in partnership with educational writing platform, LittleScribe. Popular children’s authors Andrew Daddo and James Foley have come on-board, to provide inspiration and story starters for participating children via live webinar, and close to 50 schools, representing 6000 children, have signed on to the program.
We are particularly keen to have a few more city schools join the program, so we can give more kids a voice and build stronger understanding between students from the city and those in country. If you’d like your child’s school to get involved, please encourage them to take part and register their interest.
