Royal Far West (RFW) is now an approved provider under the Queensland Department of Education’s Specialist Disability Support in Schools (SDSS) Program.
This new funding allows RFW to extend free allied health services to eligible children in government, independent, and Catholic schools across outer regional, remote, and rural Queensland. Services will be delivered primarily via telehealth, with some in-community visits to schools to be scheduled.
Helping Primary Schools and Students Thrive
Through the SDSS Program, RFW’s multidisciplinary team—including Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, and Occupational Therapists—provides tailored support to help schools meet the needs of eligible students. Services include:
- Individual and small group therapy programs
- Assessments to support goal setting, learning plans, and educational adjustments
- Professional development and advisory support for educators and school staff
Connecting with Communities
Recently, RFW’s Schools and Early Years team embarked on their first in-community visit as part of the SDSS Program. Team members Annabelle (Occupational Therapist), Jacqui (Psychologist), and Bhais (Speech Pathologist) visited schools in Gladstone, Tannum Sands, Miriam Vale, and Agnes Water to discuss how RFW can support students and educators through this initiative.
