Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and her husband Mr Wilson joined local Branch Members for a heartfelt afternoon tea to celebrate Royal Far West’s centenary year.
The gathering was more than a celebration—it was a tribute to the enduring spirit of community that has defined the West Wyalong Branch for generations. Among those in attendance was Branch Patron Gwen Downey, who had the honour of cutting the 100 Years celebration cake, marking a century of care, connection, and commitment to country kids.
A Legacy of Local Impact
The West Wyalong Branch is part of Royal Far West’s proud network of regional volunteer groups that have supported the organisation for nearly its entire history. These branches have been instrumental in raising funds, hosting events, and spreading awareness of the challenges faced by children in rural and remote communities.
From cake stalls to community raffles, the West Wyalong Branch has long been a beacon of generosity and grassroots support. Their efforts have helped fund vital health services, transport, and accommodation for families needing care—ensuring that distance doesn’t stand in the way of a child’s wellbeing.
Celebrating 100 Years of Service
The Governor’s visit was a powerful reminder of the impact that local volunteers have made over the decades. It also highlighted Royal Far West’s ongoing commitment to partnering with communities across NSW to deliver multidisciplinary care for children with developmental, behavioural, and mental health needs.
As we continue our centenary celebrations, we honour the legacy of branches like West Wyalong—whose dedication has helped shape Royal Far West’s mission and reach. Their story is woven into the fabric of our history, and their continued support ensures we can keep going beyond for country kids.
