Redevelopment Update

Our Manly site, which has been in continuous ownership of Royal Far West for more than 80 years, is our principle asset. The Manly location is fundamental to our service and the co-location of the Royal Far West School is vital in the provision of our integrated model of care.

The medical services building is reaching the end of its functional life. The building services are in need of replacement and the building fabric has deteriorated to the extent that major repairs will be required in the not too distant future. In order to provide an appropriate standard of clinical services, a new building is required.

The Board resolved that the delivery of future services needs to be housed in a new facility, located on the Manly site. In addition to an integrated health and educational model of service delivery, the new facility will allow Royal Far West to expand our clinical teaching and research capacity, thereby bringing together the components of a true centre of excellence.

The Manly site has the potential to accommodate all of Royal Far West’s requirements for the foreseeable future with space available for additional development. Royal Far West has resolved to make use of the value that this additional space represents to enable the reconstruction of a new co-located medical, education and research facility, and generate long term revenue.

The project has been declared a major project under Part 3 of the Environment Planning and Assessment Act (1979).
