Royal Far West Children's Health Scheme provides a range of health services for children from country New South Wales.

The majority of Royal Far West services are provided at the facility at Manly however some members of the clinical staff travel to rural locations across NSW to conduct outreach clinics. We also have a Children's Outreach Health Program based in Casino, in northern NSW. This program is a joint initiative of Royal Far West and the North Coast Area Health Service.

Detailed position descriptions are available by contacting the person nominated in the advertisement. Appointments to positions with Royal Far West are made on the basis of merit. This means that the applicant considered to be the most capable of performing the duties of the position is selected. If you are requested to attend an interview and you have any special needs (for example, wheelchair access to the building, and interpreter for hearing impaired persons) you should tell the person who contacts you about the interview.

Selection Criteria
The essential and desirable criteria for each position are contained within the job description. Please address each essential and desirable criterion separately and describe fully how you meet them. You may do this by providing examples of tasks and duties which clarify the relevance of your skills and experience for the position together with how current they are. If your application does not address the criteria fully you may not be invited for interview.

Criminal Record Checks
It is Royal Far West policy to require recommended applicants to undertake a Criminal Record Check conducted by the NSW Police Department for sexual offences, serious offences involving threat or injury to another person and serious offences which are directly relevant to the duties of the position for which they have applied. A criminal record check, for applicants recommended for appointment, is only undertaken following interview and with the signed consent of the recommended appointee. Appointment to a position will be conditional upon a satisfactory criminal record check being returned. It is also Royal Far West policy that all recommended applicants for appointment provide appropriate documentation to support their identity.

Prohibited Persons
With the exception of where an order, from the Industrial Relations Commission or the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, declares that the Act does not apply to a serious sex offence committed by an individual, the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 makes it an offence for a person convicted of a serious sex offence (a prohibited person) to apply for, or remain in child related employment. A working within children check, for applicants recommended for appointment, is only undertaken following interview and with the signed consent of the recommended appointee. Appointment to a position will be conditional upon a satisfactory check being returned.

Interview and Assessment
If called for an interview, you will be asked questions related to the duties of the position and the advertised selection criteria. You may also be asked to tell the interview panel more about particular areas of your application. Prior to the interview please read the job advertisement and/or position description. The criteria for the position have been developed from the position description and the Panel will use the criteria to develop interview questions. The panel will also call your referees to assist in assessing your suitability for the role. A recommendation is then made on who the most suitable applicant is for appointment.

Feedback
You will be advised in writing of the result of your application after the selection process is completed, normally within two (2) weeks of interviews being conducted. If your application is successful a representative of Royal Far West will contact you to discuss an offer of employment.
