New CEO throws open doors of Royal Far West

21-Oct-2011

Newly appointed Royal Far West CEO Lindsay Cane will throw open the doors and welcome the Manly community inside as she increases community awareness of the iconic healthcare facility from 3 to 7pm on November 2, 2011.

Ms Cane was formally appointed to the role after initially taking on the role of interim CEO in July. She hosts a wealth of experience including lengthy and successful postings at major not-for-profits - including Netball Australia, the Asthma Foundation and the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards.

“Royal Far West is such a unique and intriguing organisation and I really want to share that with the people of Manly,” Ms Cane said.

“People see the buildings when they walk past and know where we are but I’m keen for them to find out more about just what goes on inside. Royal Far West is a home away from home for country families and it’s a vital health facility for kids.

“Royal Far West makes sure country kids can get help with their medical, dental and developmental needs but we rely heavily on community support to realise this end goal.

“I’d like to invite local Manly people to take a tour behind the scenes at Royal Far West - see our home away from home Drummond House, share afternoon tea in Drummond House and learn about some of the play therapies we use on our young patients.”

On the open day, planning experts will be on hand to answer questions about the redevelopment of the site, clinical staff will discuss some of the treatments on offer and volunteers can talk with others interested in joining the team.

“This is a great chance for families, community leaders and general members of the public to come down and learn more about what we do and what our hopes and plans are for the future,” Ms Cane said.

Entry to the Royal Far West open day is through Drummond House, Wentworth St, Manly. Inquiries: 8966 8503.
