Harbour cruise a dream day

Harbour cruise a dream day

18-Jan-2012

A group of young Royal Far West patients and their families hit Sydney Harbour
aboard the Hoochie Mumma on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 as part of the
organisation’s summer respite program.

The 2012 summer respite program has been supported by brokerage company
Insurance Advisernet which made a $5000 donation, the ABC Local Radio NSW
Giving Tree and Hoochie Mumma skipper Todd Hull who has donated the cruise
and barbecue lunch to the families.

Royal Far West CEO Lindsay Cane said offering a supported holiday by the sea
gave special needs children from towns like Cobar, Wellington and Junee a
chance to enjoy the simple pleasure of a summer vacation in a safe and familiar
environment.

“Children who are Royal Far West patients work really hard through the year to
make improvements in things like learning, behaviour and speech. So, it’s great to
have them enjoy a well earned break and build strong and positive family
memories during this respite program,” Ms Cane said.

“The holiday is free for the families and the donations from Insurance Advisernet
and the ABC Local Radio NSW Giving Tree make this respite program possible.
Insurance Advisernet staff and all the ABC donors would be happy to know what
a great week we have planned.”

Mr Hull said he was delighted to have the families aboard the Hoochie Mumma.
“Cruising around Sydney Harbour is an amazing experience and when I heard
about these struggling country kids and their families I really wanted to share that
joy with them during their holiday,” Mr Hull said.

“If we can support children who need our help then we give them a better
chance of realising their potential and having amazing lives – which is of course
what we all want.”
